Detection-triggered recordings, stored locally and backed up to a Google Drive account controlled by the owner.
Activity at the camera
The personal recorder receives motion and person-detection signals from a compatible camera.
A local video clip
A locally operated device saves video to USB storage. Recording continues briefly after detected activity.
Private Drive storage
Completed clips are uploaded using rclone and Google authorisation. Access is controlled through the owner's Google Drive sharing settings.
Google account access
Tapo Recorder uses Google OAuth to authorise uploads to the owner's Drive. Its intended scope is drive.file, for files and folders created or explicitly authorised for this application.
